Today I thought I would share a few songs that seem to be impacting me the most right now. The ones that make me really feel, so that I can convey that emotion to the page.
1. Love scenes - Joe Gillette "You and I"
No, you haven't ever heard of him, why, you ask? Well he is friend of a friend that is extremely talented, but not yet recorded. Let's get him there by watching his You Tube video! It's worth the watch -trust me - although half the views are probably mine. I choose this song because it bring to rememberance the sweet things about love.

2. Action/adventure - Adele "Rolling in the deep"
I know, everyone likes this song right now, but it really gets my blood pumping for those "I can't hardly breath" action scenes.
3. Sad scenes - Jose Gonzalez "Down the line"
His soulful guitar and rough voice lend to the perfect tear jerking atmosphere. Sometimes I can hardly write when this song comes on, but I take a moment to listen and soak up the feeling so I can transfer that to the page.
4. Traveling scenes - The paper raincoat "Brooklyn Blurs"
This song came from the same soundtrack as the previous one, but it has such a feeling of motion that you can roll right a long with the sound.
5. Celebration scene - Lee DeWyze "Sweet Serendipity"
This song mirrors the feeling of just scraping by, and yet being elated. some of the lyrics will do the writing for me "I'm always landing on my feet, in the nick of time, and by the skin of my teeth." Well, you get the gist.

Good post. I always tell people that songs are my musical diary, because every song from my past reminds me of a specific event. Cutting Crew's "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight"? First girlfriend. Richard Marx (Don't Mean Nothing?" Unpacking my stuff in my new freshmen dormroom. It goes on and on, right up to current songs. So when I write, I have an entire host of muses trying to push forward and jump into my stories, lol! :)
That is such a great way to put it. I too have those same kinds memories and I love it when it song takes me back. It's funny how can sit and stare at the screen drawing a complete blank, then a song comes on and it all just comes together.
I think I'm going to pick a song from my past and see if the lyrics can give me the start of a flash fiction plot. On a side note, I'm going to check out the Jose Gonzalez song you mentioned. I've got two songs by him already that I love: "Far Away" and his cover of The Knife's "Heartbeats".

I love that song, but I haven't heard of any of his other songs. So I will defiantly have to check them out.
I totally agree on "Rolling in the Deep." I'm not a fan of Adele but the song is great for a writing playlist. The video is also really cool for the visuals.
You have a lot of music I love to hear. Also, I love to listen to music while I write, it keeps me motivated.
A fellow Adele fan? Awesometasticness! Yes I'm aware that "awesomestasticness" is not a word and that there are plenty of other words that could suffice...but I just couldn't help myself ◕‿◕! If the gates of heaven have loudspeakers playing at the entryway, I hope the first song that blasts out is "Set Fire To The Rain."
Oooh, new music to explore. I, too, use music as my inspiration for well, just about everything--writing, photo editing, cleaning. I love music and I have an incredibly eclectic playlist, which I think is about to get bigger.
