The blurb on her blog:

Pretty straight forward, but I like it.
What I liked: As far as romances go I have never read a story like this. It was more out-of-the box then most of the recently released romances I've seen. Her characters are solid and I felt like I was part of their lives. I got involved enough that I almost texted my husband something important becasue that's what the characters would do -- then I remembered that prefer an actual conversation. :)
What I didn't like: I noticed quite a few grammatical errors and missing words that could have easily been avoided had an editor or critique group been involved. There was also a few times when the transitions made no sense and I was confused about where the characters were. But it didn't really bother me becasue the story was strong enough that I didn't obsess over every little mistake.
Overview: I really enjoyed CANCELLED, if you like romance then you'll like this book. I normally don't read adult romance becasue of the sex, but it wasn't too heavy a theme. She actually had interesting characters instead of two people who just pork each other all the time. And I think it ended just how it should have. Right now CANCELLED is only $.99 so I wouldn't miss out on the sale.
Have a question for the author? Just leave it in the comments and I'm sure she would be happy to answer them :)

Hey J.A.
Thanks for the headsup in this book and for .99, you can't beat that:)
@DeanaThanks Deana for your interest! I feel awful about the typo issues, I realized last week there were a number of conversion hiccoughs that I needed to repair. I know Jennie got an early file, but that's no excuse. For my next book, I will be using a different editor ;)
@Elizabeth Ann West I hope I didn't sound like I was slamming your book. I really did like it, I just thought you would like to know :)
LOL! wow. That is straight to the point. But I'm like that, so I have a feeling I'll probably like this book. Thanks for the heads-up, J~ :o) <3
@J. A. Bennett ;) Absolutely no worries! I have no problems admitting this book had a shoestring production budget. :) And I didn't see it as a slam either. It's the truth, there are a few sanfus. And the transition comment made me immediately think of the jump to the baseball game, I probably didn't explain that very well.
But I'm proud that the areas where I really wanted the book to shine are doing so! A non-romance reader romance writer. That's what I am! Repeatedly, I'm getting reviews that say the story line is different, that they cared about the characters... And THAT makes me jazzed. I can spend more money next time on editing, but I can't throw money at characterization and plot line troubles to make them better. :)
I hadn't heard of this book. Thanks for the heads up.
I do think this sounds like an interesting story. I like that it's not a cliche romance novel. Very interesting. If I had an e-reader right now I would totally get it. But... for now I think it will have to wait until Christmas.
@AbbyIt is available in print for $6.99 also on Amazon. :) I know not all authors also make their books available in print, but I realize that not everyone has an ereader.
Transitions can be heard. Still, this sounds like a pretty cool book. I love romances. Especially strange ones. :)
This sounds like a great book. And snafus happen, even with the Big 6. I really like that they were mentioned here in the review. As an author, I would also want to know about them if it were my book.
Wow, a really different read. Don't think I've ever heard of anything quite like it. Thanks for the review:)
@Angela Brown Exactly! :) I wasn't hurt in the least, the feedback about my transitions wasn't something I've heard before, so I wrote it down in my editing journal as something to really look at in Past Due. Another area I want to become better with is the beginning of my books. Ugh, the first chapter of Cancelled went through SO many edits. In fact, readers can read the original first chapter on my reader blog with the password in the ebook and printed version.
Cool premise, but lack of editing would drive me crazy. Sorry, but you just got to do it even if you are self-pubbing your book. It's sort of a deal breaker for A LOT of people.
@Christa The book was edited, but it wasn't a very large budget. Like everything else in life... you get what you pay for. :) For my next book, I plan to have a larger budget for editing services and now have contacts to some very awesome freelance editors. :)
Fabulous! I appreciate the honest review. I'm w/you on grammar issues. Critique partners help a ton!
Love your review, Jen. You are so honest and so straightforward. ;) (It's why I love ya!)
Btw, thanks for the blog mention. You rock, my friend!
I love a book whose description can be so straight forward! And I really love great characters.
Thanks for the review!
LOL, you totally said that characters pork each other. Sounds like an interesting read. I usually stay away from adult romance for the same reason.
Thanks for the review!
@Jenny S. Morris It does seem increasingly you either get porking or plot, but not both. :) I like the fade to black technique... must be all of the Jane Austen fan fiction I read..
I don't read much romance, but that is exactly because of weak characters and story lines in many of them. This one sounds interesting and doesn't appear to have that problem. Thanks for the rec!
Sounds like an interesting read. Thank you for visiting my blog and thank for your honest review.
I like honest folks. I'm sure i'll be back!:)
It sounds interesting. and yes you are toooooo awesome Jen. You know it. :D
I just wanted to leave a very humble thank you to Jennie for being such an awesome friend. I am thankful she pointed out a few weaknesses in CANCELLED and I will certainly work hard to avoid the same problems with book 2.
I would also like to thank all of her visitors and readers. I had a ball yesterday reading the comments and responding when I could. And a big thank you for those who purchased the book. It means the world to me. :)
this is more my cup of tea, will check it out, thanks for the review
I love Abby's blog. But this is a great interview. So cute.
