Closet NaNoWriMo

I've been telling everyone I'm not really participating in NaNoWriMo. I've had a few commitment issues reasons for this, but now I'm staring them in the face and coming out with it. Yup, I'm official staking my claim in the NaNo soil, and I need your support. My handle is J. A. Bennett if you want to buddy up and I will be on twitter quite a bit #wordmongering* to boost my count.

I was planning on keeping this under wraps then coming out and saying "ta da! I did it!", but I wasn't exactly keeping my excessive writing a secret. (Example A) I've written 13,052 words so far. That puts me on track, for now. Hope I can keep it up!

Have you ever committed to something that scared you? How did it turn out?

*#wordmongering starts every hour at the top of the hour. You write like mad for 30 minutes then tell everyone your word count, we all cheer each other on and work ever harder afterwards. Come join us, it's fun :)

First of all, I LOVE #wordmongering. I'm not doing NaNo (really, I'm not), but it's infinitely useful to get those writing goals down.

Second, congrats on your progress! Keep up the great work!

And thirdly--yes. I was terrified to start blogging, but now I love it. :)

I am committed to a brand new literary project right now, something I've never done before. I'll be talking about it on my blog soon :)

Best wishes with NaNo too!

Wow! You're doing great. It's exciting to write 13k in one week. Way to go.

You're doing great. The thing is to write and not get too caught up on the deadline stuff and have fun doing it!

I'd seen #wordmongering on Twitter but didn't know that's what it was. What a great idea. I may try it. Congratulations on "coming out!" With that many words, you're definitely on track. I've got about 8k, so not even close. Keep it up. I'm rooting for you. (First wrote "rotting." Heh.)

Good luck to you! It's okay to be scared...after all you can't really be brave regarding anything if you aren't scared:)

Woo hoo! You are doing great! I committed to doing NaNo, but went on a cruise and I haven't started writing yet... I'm still hoping to hop on the wagon. I just probably won't get 50k. We'll see...

And I love the blog's new look!

Committing to The Rule of Three and Writing Campaign were both unsettling at first, but I'm so glad I joined in!

I'm not doing NaNo either, but I have decided to revise one of my shelved projects. Is there such a thing and a NaNo Revision month?

Great job on that word count! :)

Jennie, I'm impressed as you really seem to be in a writing groove. Good for you.

Haven't graduated to the NaNoWriMo level. Seems a bit daunting. I applaud your efforts. I'm sure it will only strengthen your writing muscle. I'm in awe!

Oh my god I need to get one with that warmongering! My region has a chat room complete with wordbot who runs wars with us, but we don't do them as much as I would like/need.

I like you new blog look. Writing was my secret for a long time. LOL. I decided to let everyone know I was doing NaNoReviMo so I couldn't back out. Although it's all about my own goal.

Good luck with NaNo. I hope you're doing the time travel book. It's going to be so cool. ;0)

Congrats for doing it. NaNo is a brilliant motivator and it looks like you are right on track.

I have buddied you (I'm in as LynFAW)

You can do it! ;) I wish I was doing it this year or I'd be your buddy. Good luck!

Wow! Congrats! That's so awesome, you little secret-keeper, you. Wordmongering sounds like funnest thing EVER. I might have to try it at some point even if I'm not NaNoing. They'll still let me play, right?

I'm doing it and failing miserably :-)

Oh, yes, some of my LLC goals scared (and still scare!) me. Although I'm not NaNo-ing, I'm cheering for you!

I'm impressed you're on track. That's quick work!

Good work! I'm in NaNo but keeping a low profile too. :) I'm slightly behind, and will likely finish below the mark, but I'm not going to stress about it. It's only pressure if I make it that way! So I'm going for "getting some good writing time in." :)

Christa said...

First of all, total WIN on your new design. Second, while I do feel the pressure of NaNo, I am doing my best to hold off. Instead, I am pushing myself to write something short that is outside of my genre while I wait on revisions. Good luck!

Good luck with NaNo! :)Sounds like you're making great progress. I'm doing it too-- and yes, it scares me. Especially because I'm going out of ton for Thanksgiving. I've got to try and get ahead of the game!
