I have been a stay-at-home mom for almost four years, and though I love my children dearly, there is a point as mother when you start to wonder if you are ever going to have anything that is just for you. It's true that not all mothers feel this way, but I certainly did.
Then, eight short months ago, I started blogging. Never did I imagine how it would change my life and what doors it would open for me. The intent of this blog was, and still is, to talk about the process of creating a literary work.
If I where to go through my posts and read them like I would a fiction novel I think I would find it similar to a hero's epic journey. There have been challenges, lows, and times when I feel like everything is working against me. But there have also been those sweet moments when you find out that all the grief was worth it.
Every time I think about my journey thus far, I find I have been blessed again and again. And yesterday I got one more glimpse of why it is worth it to put myself and my writing out there.
I have a friend who owns several successful websites and yesterday he asked me to blog for them. I'm not going to share the websites, because what I write there will be more incognito. (What I'm doing for them is about helping their business, not building my platform.)
That being said, I have another dream coming true becasue of my blogging. I am getting paid to write. Sure, I'm not getting a bestseller out there (Which would be the ultimate fiction writing goal) but I am getting a little side cash doing something I love, and honestly I couldn't be happier.
How has blogging / social media influenced your life?
