I've never been a runner. Let me tell you, time and again I've tried to be a runner. You'd think having a dad who was a runner (he once ran the Wasatch 100 a 100 mile race, I'm not kidding!) I would have no problem.
I've always wanted to be a runner, not just becasue of my dad but becasue runners have amazing bodies, but I've always gone back to dance instead which is hard to keep up when you aren't taking regular classes.
This time I'm determined. I've decided to look at running in the same way I've come to look at writing. At first I had no clue what I was doing, but I just wrote. Then I started to research writing to become better. Then I found other writers to help me out and cheer me along.
With running I'm on step two of that process. I've decided to follow this running schedule until I can improve enough to run for longer amounts of time. I just completed week one this morning.
This blog post is my first official step into looking for support to keep my running going. I think of much more motivation than being accountable to my blog followers.
Weekly stats: 3/4 days of 30 min runs
Coolest moment: Losing two pounds, wahoo!
Hardest moment: Pushing myself beyond what I think I'm capable of.Do you believe writing and running go hand and hand? Do tell!

Good for you! I was never a runner either, but I jog every day at the gym now.
I can't write or think about writing much while exercising. It's more of a clear your mind kind of thing. I also know I'm not a runner, but that's because of bad knees and back, so I'll be sticking to the bike.
Running is something I wouldn't normally do unless a rabid dog were chasing me. lol!! But it is a very health-conscience thing to do. Wishing you luck as you improve on your running more and more. I'll have to look at my exercise regimen and add more cardio.
i have a love/hate relationship with running. I get up and do it every morning begrudgingly. I did have my one and only runner's high this past week and it was incredible. If i got one of those each time it would be a different story. Good luck with your running program, you can do it!
Yay, go Jennie! We can be running buddies from a distance. :) You're doing awesome!
Awesome! I'm not much of a runner either, but when I push myself to do it, I love it! Keep it up, Jen!
Awesome job! You can do hard things, and be better for it!

I'm a self-confessed loper. I persist at a 3-miles-jogging-most-days habit, throwing in hiking and other activities to save the knees a bit. It's a habit and discipline I'm glad I have. And yes, I do work out writing ideas to the slow, but steady, thud of my feet sometimes. I will never love it!
Okay, I joined a different get healthy thing but it doesn't seem to be that motivating. Maybe if I join this one I will get my butt off the chair. And great job with running!
That's great! I've never been able to run, which is why I levitated toward martial arts. I'd love to give it a try again some day. Keep it up!!
I like biking, but it's getting too cold to do that. I'm going to try running on an indoor track, but I'm like you, I've never been a runner. You've inspired me, though!
Running? What's that?
Yeah, I should do something more than what I do, which is basically nothing, but running isn't it. At least not to start off. I'm not in enough shape for that.
Good luck on that running thing!
way to go!
i hate running. never did have any stamina...not much multi tasking you can do while running & if you get inspired, you have to stop & write it down or send yourself a breathless voicemail! ha ha!
but if its working, keep at it! way to go!
Yay! Congrats on the running! It's incredible. Remember that running shoes are the most important things, and if you get side cramps, do sit ups before you run (they help combat it. I don't know how, I just know it works!)
YOU GO GIRL!
Well done you! 30 minutes of running is an awesome beginning! You can still mix it up with dance, too.
Well done. I'm not a natural runner, although I see the benefits when I run regularly. Just to give you inspiration - when I was running just twice a week (with 2 days of gym) I couldn't eat enough to maintain my weight!
Great job! I wish I could get motivated to run, but I always talk myself out of it. That's probably why my book is just sitting there screaming "revise me!". Oops.
I really enjoy running after I started hitting the gym. It helped me to run better and have more endurance! Plus, fast music! Good luck with your running goals!
I'm trying really hard to keep fit - I have a stack of exercises assigned by my physio but it's so hard to fit it all in! Good luck :-)
I joined the healthy writer's club because I wanted to lose the last of my baby fat who is 3 and a half months old. My fat isn't 3 and a half months old, my baby is. But then I finished off an entire batch of homemade chocolate cookies almost by myself. I've still managed to lose weight, but I think it's from chasing after my children. So maybe next week. I do believe health and writing go hand in hand just like health and anything you are trying to accomplish with your life. Congrats on your accomplishments:)
Congrats on your progress so far! Running is so hard at first, but I love that moment when your body finally "gets" it. Feels like flying...
