Last month I really struggled to find time to read, the first two and half weeks of the month, nothing. The last few days of the month, 3 books. One of them was
really long. So I'm counting it as two. I can do that, it's my rules.
Cragbridge Hall: The Inventors Secret by Chad Morris. In 2012 I brushed up on the latest time travel books that were sweeping the market. I did so because Time Travel was what I wrote and wanted to sell. I was sorely disappointed with most of the books out there.
This book blew everything I read out of the water. The way Chad incorporated history and made the time travel so subtle and brilliant, it was perfect. The tension was high, and the adventure so fun. This is one of those books I'll be saving for my kids to read when they get a little older. Loved it!!
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi. I'm always hesitant starting a second book in a series, and I was especially nervous about this one. It seems as of there is one truth about the second book in a series, and it happened in this book, almost immediately. If you haven't read Shatter me, do. You'll fall in love with Adam, then Adam will be ripped from your life in this book. But that's okay, becasue there's also a second universal truth about book 2. The character finds themselves for real. Before they can finish the job, they figure out who they are. Thank goodness that was also true for this book.
In short, the prose left me breathless again. She's amazing! Even though I knew this book would be the bumpiest part of the 3 book road, I still enjoyed reading.
The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. When I admitted on my Facebook page that I was converted to Brandon Sanderson, I was met with immediate shouts that The Way of Kings was Brandon's crowing achievement. I admit, I was skeptical and it took me quite a while to get into the story. There are so many characters and takes a good portion of the book just to get an idea of the true setting. But once all of that is behind you, it's intoxicating. The people, the land, the magic, everything is amazing. By the end of it all your mind is so blown, you forget that a real world is around you, needing your attention. Dang that real world! I could stay in The Way of Kings all day.

Wasn't Chad's book awesome? With TWoK, I went back and listened to it again--while I was getting dressed for work in the morning and taking notes as impressions came to me. Brandon is one of those really deep writers and even though his books are large, he doesn't put anything in that doesn't mean something later. So you have to pay attention.
Great books! I can't wait to read them! I've only heard great things about Chad's book. Whoop!

Some great reads. My husband is reading aloud Chad's book to the kids right now. And I'm a little nervous about starting Unravel Me for those same reasons. I loved Adam so much, and now I'm scared. :(
Intoxicating eh? Well, that would be converting ;) I loved Chad's book too. What an adventure!
The Way of Kings sounds like my kind of book. I wish more books these days would take that kind of time developing characters and a setting instead of just diving right into the action without much orientation for the reader.
I'm actually waiting for a copy of Chad's book to come into my local indie store (I told them they should have ordered more!).
Love Brandon Sanderson, and I've added Chad's book to my TBR too. :)
I just got my copy of Chad's book - it's on the dessert list of reading after I get my edits done.
Been seeing Chad's book everywhere. I think it will do especially well. And I love time travel books, even though I don't think I could ever write one. My mind can't quite wrap around all the things you'd have to keep straight.
I haven't heard of any of these books but the cover for Unravel Me is breathtaking. Maybe I'll look into it...
These all sound fabulous. I have Sanderson's trilogy on my shelf ready to read, but I have to admit I didn't LOVE what he did with Robert Jordan's last few books. I'm still glad somebody got it done though. And I look forward to reading his own books.

I loved Chad's book. It was brilliant, fun and great for kids. I need to get Brandon Sanderson's. I still haven't read anything of his. Ridiculous, right?

I do the same thing; I don't read for a while and then I read several books in a few days. It's kinda nice that way. :)
Three great books. Thanks for spotlighting them! I always have a hard time getting my reading in--especially while I'm 24/7 with the edits. I know if I start a good book, it will take over and I'll never the edits done in time.
The Inventor's Secret is right up my alley.
I saw The Way of Kings at the book store, and I was a little intimidated by the sheer length of the thing.

I just finished Inventor's Secret, too! Loved it. The review goes up today, actually. Still need to check out Way of Kings, but that thing is a beast! :)
