T is for Twitter

I wanted to talk about one last social media platform to enhance your blogging experience: Twitter.

I'm going to keep it short and simple. The best thing you can learn about Twitter is that hash tags are the best! (#thesethingsthatareallonelongword)

Each hashtag on twitter is like a mini chat room. If you can get your blog posts out to the right chat rooms, people will visit your blog.

Just a words of caution, if you're going to post your blogposts to chat room make sure you interact with people in said rooms. No one likes it when their feeds are spammed as they're trying to have a conversation.

Some hashtags are specifically for links, but most aren't. Do your research first and you'll find a whole new audience is waiting at your fingertips.

I always forget about hashtags.

I love Twitter! And hashtags are definitely useful, although I rarely use them for my blog posts (mostly because of the spamming thing you mentioned). When OTHER people tag my posts with hashtags, however...well. :)

I'm horrible at hashtags! Ugh. There's so much to remember and do when it comes to social media. Good reminder though - thanks!

Great tip, short and sweet. There's an SCBWI event on tweeting. I may go now and expand my twitter knowledge.

Hashtags are abused these days, so I tend to ignore them.

But they can lead to chatrooms???

I had no idea hashtags could lead to chat rooms . . .there is so much I don't know.

I've made Twitter friends via hashtags. #ilovethem

My only problem with hashtag chats is that they're usually one hour a week with much lighter conversation sporadic around the rest. I'm so bad at remembering that #scifichat or #litchat are at specific hours!

Twitter has totally overwhelmed me in the past. I really need to get a bit more involved . . .

Hmmmmm, I keep meaning to use twitter more but...well, I don't. Maybe I'll become a devote tweeter soon! ;)

I really like Twitter. Whenever there's anything hot in the media, I hear it there first.

Perfect post today, I'm just now ( sort of) getting the hang of twitter, but today I actually saw your reply to my tweet, so that's progress . I was so overwhelmed with twitter until I started using an app on my phone that I can understand . I'm just discovering hashtags and some have opened me up to new ideas and I've found new friends. I didn't know that hashtag chats were at specific times. I still have much to learn

I'm on Twitter a lot now, but haven't quite figured out how to best use hash tags yet. I would greatly enjoy more posts on this topics:)

Twitter still confuses me, and like Alex I always forget about hash tags too.

I usually only use hashtags for chats and pitchfests, though sometimes I'll bite and use a trending topic or a hashtag of my own.

I didn't really use Twitter until I started blogging. I am amazed at it now though- it truly is such a good tool... and addicting!

It took me a while to figure out Twitter and use hashtags, but I actually really like it now. I love finding other people to do writing sprints with. It's very motivating!

I always forget about twitter. I don't mean to, but I have so many other things going on that I just don't remember to post there. I need to do better ... :)

Now that I recently got a Twitter, I'm an automatic hashtag person. Guess it comes with the generation.
