My review:
The title Blood Moon drew me in right away and the beautiful cover had my itching to open the pages. It started with romance, and I always love a romance. The instant connection between her and Simon is a concept rarely seen.
There are a lot of fun elements to this book. The powers and the classifications were really original and the people felt real, not just magical.
However, sometimes the prose was breathtaking and other times it took away from the story. There were moments of panic for the characters and other times when I felt like the pacing was too slow. I liked it overall --- the ending was really good and left just enough open to hope for a second book.
On another hand, there were a few believability problems with the plot. I did like Willa and Simon as people, but sometimes their characters flip-flopped without good reason. I had a hard time with antagonist as well. He seemed overly evil and almost cartoon-ish sometimes.
On the other hand, witch stories are really hard to pull off becasue they can easily fall into the cliche. Blood moon did a great job twisting that. If you're a fan of witch stories, you'd love this book!

Pacing can be difficult to master. I've had editors tell me some of my dialogue slows down certain scenes -- but in other scenes, they want more of it. Overall, sounds like this book's a winner. I'll have to check it out.
