Hello fellow bloggers! Before I begin, I wanted to let you all know that I am keeping the blog hop open for one more day, so scroll down, check out the peeps, follow them, and give them comment love. I'm sure they will all return the favor!
As you can see from the title, today I'm talking about magic. Last night the hubs and I watched "The Sorcerers Apprentice" it was a little cheesy, but it brought a smile to my face. It also got the wheels turning in my head.
Think of all the movies, books, artwork, and general media that talk about magic. The book I'm writing even has hints of it. Why do think that is? It seems like there's always the good magic, and the bad magic, and the magic always has it certian restrictions. Yet, we gobble it up every time (at least I do).
I have theory about why we like magic so much. Part of it is that we want some. Another part is that we like to think of what could be possible. But I think the real reason we like magic so much is that we want to believe that we can all achieve so much more.
Back to the movie last night. The main character was a nerd. His character was the very definition of the word nerd. At the end, he overcomes his nerdiness enough to become as powerful as Merlin, kill the evil Morgana, and still land the girl.
If that's not reaching, I don't know what is. But you know what? I still put myself in his shoes. I feel like the biggest nerd in the world sometimes. Then I see movies like this and I think if I believe in myself, and work hard enough, maybe I'll be powerful enough to defeat my demons.
It makes me laugh, but at the same time, I feel myself hoping. Who knows what will come in the future? Maybe the X-men theory? Maybe a whole magical world that we are unaware of? Maybe we all have some sort of magical potential that we simply need to unlock? Who knows, but it sure is fun to dream.

I have always given much thought to this. As a huge X-men fan I always wanted to be a mutant that could walk through walls. I think what's so appealing about the idea of possessing special or magical powers is that we, as human beings, have such a big desire to be in control or in possession of something so much bigger than our abilities. That's the basis of the human condition, the desire of greaterness.
Thanks for posting this, very thought provoking. Now I'm going to have to watch the sorcerers apprentice, I think I saw it on netflix!
I totally agree! I watch the movie on netflix too!
Great post - I love magic too.. I was an "older" fan of Charmed.. Buffy the Vampire Slayer.. Harry Potter.. It would be nice to do something unimaginable wouldn't it?

Yup! Im a magic maniac myself. I always fancy myself in the shoes of Harry Potter. What if I was the favorite of Dumbledore? What if I was the Star of the Quiditch? What if I was the one who lived in the Muggle World with Harry's muggle family? What if I was the one who travelled with Ron and Hermoine? :)
Ive also seen the movie. It was a nice shot of a fiction
