Hanging on a Cliff Side

It's day two of the Hookers & Hangers blogfest and today it's all about leaving them hanging.

Even though my book, EXISTENCE ends with a cliffhanger, I'm not giving that much away. So here are a few lines from chapter endings that might help you connect the dots with some of my hooks. Bonus points for any guesses in the comments ;)

"The research she had done before the mission told her President Reagan survived, but two of the secret service men weren’t as lucky."

"She wasn’t sure how she was going to get on with life, but she knew she didn’t want to Curve through time anymore. Not with her father gone."

“Well,” Chrissie said, a half smile creeping on her face, “first, we are going to get our bruises cleaned up, then we’re going to Italy.”

"He had her watch, and she was nothing but a prisoner to Matt."

“We should get the others,” Gabe said, shaking his head once more. “It’s time to go to the future.”

So there you have it. Now for another question: out the novels you've read, which one had the best cliffhangers?

I remember loving your hookers. I love your hangers, too. I'd want to keep reading. Great job!

Wow, those are awesome. Makes me want to read on even though I haven't read a blurb yet. Well done! For me, Harlan Coben is the king of all cliffhangers.

It's time to go to the future?
Awesome.
Love these, and your story sounds so interesting...curving time is such a cool sounding concept :)

Love the second and last ones! So intriguing! :)

That are some great lines. Hangers are good--as long as they're within the book and not at the end. lol Otherwise I'll wait until the series is done and then read it.

My favourite one is "“Well,” Chrissie said, a half smile creeping on her face, “first, we are going to get our bruises cleaned up, then we’re going to Italy.”" Excellent hanger! I like the "time to go to the future" one as well :)

"“We should get the others,” Gabe said, shaking his head once more. “It’s time to go to the future.”"

Ooh, nicely done. I want to know what's in the future!

I loved the last one for sure. I'd have to keep reading to find out where these characters end up. I also really like #2. You've crammed that with a lot of implication and left me with questions I want answers to. :-)

The second, third, and four lines are my favorites! This is such a cool blog hop...except when everyone gets published, I'm gonna have 100 new books in my TBR pile. Ugh. :)

These are great! Thanks for sharing.

I like your second and fourth hangers... and I agree with Lisa, Harlan Coben keeps me reading because I just can't put his books down at the end of each chapter!

Great job! I'm trying to write a time travel book right now so I'm definitely curious about yours. I can't think of my favorite cliff hanger in a book ever, but the one line that always stays in my head as being amazing comes from The Last Werewolf: "Reader, I ate him."

These are so strong! I absolutely want to read this! I think 2,3, and 5 are my favorites!

These are great cliff hangers, well done. Especially intrigued by the curving through time...

Those are great hangers!

And my book has a great hanger at the end too, but I couldn't share it either. It would give away too much. :)

Tunnels by Brian Williams and Roderick Gordon had excellent cliffhangers--and all of the other books in their series have just as intense endings.

Great cliffhangers!

Very good hangers Jennie. Your book sounds awesome.

And as far as books that end with hangers... VARIANT still has me dying for book 2 to be in my hands NOW!

Ooh, I want to Curve through time. And I so want to go with Gabe to the future!! Your story sounds so intriguing.

Thanks for participating!!

Hmm. If President Reagan survived, and they're going to Italy, I wonder if the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II is mentioned?

A hint at going to Italy is my kind of hanger!

As for book hangers, I have to say the Twilight book where Bella cut her finger and the vamps went buckwild and then it ended about killed me! Was that New Moon? I can't even remember now. Wait, no, that was Twilight wasn't it? I'm getting old:)

Number 5 was the best hanger for me:)

Wow, your story certainly sounds interesting :) Nice hangers.

Sounds like a very interesting concept behind the book. I like the last one best too. Is the watch something to do with the Curving through time?

I like, "“We should get the others,” Gabe said, shaking his head once more. “It’s time to go to the future.”

Leaves me wanting to read what will happen next.

I remember reading this. So sad!

Great voice here my dear :)
