IWSG: Growing Up

It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for another round of the Insecure Writers Support Group! Can you believe that Alex J. Cavanaugh has been hosting for two years? Talk about awesome!

This month I'm taking a little break from my insecurities (they're still there, especially in the middle of Pitch Madness) to talk about something else entirely.

Today is my baby's 1st birthday.

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have any more children so it's really sad to think that the last baby in my house is now turning into a toddler.

I can hardly believe I'm old enough to have three kids, much less three kids which are growing without my permission.

Today I'm going to step away from the computer and squeeze my youngest as hard as I can, because he's growing up way too fast.

Do you ever wish time would just slow down?

So gorgeous. As the mother to a 14 and 9 year old, the answer to your question is yes, very much! But on the other hand, it's so much fun watching the men they'll turn into start to emerge.

Time FLIES. I know as writers we should avoid cliches, but seriously, where do the years go?

Cute kids. And yes, they will grow up without your permission. And do a lot of other things, too.

Happy first birthday to your boy.

Aw, happy bday to your precious! I tell ya, time truly flies. Mine are in 2nd and 3rd grade. I really love the stage they're in tho.
Nothing, not even writing, can take the place of those precious baby moments. Cherish, cherish, cherish!

I can't believe he's already a year old! Time flies.

I know what you mean. My five-year-old just started school, and she's my last. It is so sad, and really makes me feel my age.

Aww, such a cutie! Yeah, I look at my one and only child growing up so fast, and it makes my heart hurt.

I know, right? If I had known about that little clause ... ah, who am I kidd'n. Everyone grows, but at least we can capture a glimpse of the past with cameras and stuff and watch our kids as kids whenever we like. :)

OH such a sweet little face he has! So cute.

Yeah I kind of have this tug-and-pull with my thoughts on time. On one hand I have a son graduated from college and a daughter in her senior year in high school, and wonder how did they become adults so very quickly. My mama's heart gets sad.

On the other, I know that a new phase in life is on the horizon and I'm so excited to see what that may be.

Happy birthday baby! He's adorable. Just this morning I sat down at the table for breakfast and glanced at my kids, wondering, when the heck did they get so big? Sigh. Enjoy your babies because they grow too fast!

About time speeding by:

You know that anxiety dream where you've missed the final exam for a class? Yeah, that was my twenties, just in real life. One day I was sitting in the car counting my blessings as it were and I got to the end of my list and thought, "not bad for 23. Wait, 23? that's not right." I counted it out. I was three years off! I was floored. So yeah. I get that feeling.

Such a cute kid! Happy birthday to him!

Time is going rather slow for me atm...

And don't worry. Soon enough you'll be begging to be an empty nester. ;)

Just wait until they are over twenty and you long to pick them up and hold them, but you can't. Check out a book called Love You Forever by Canadian author Robert Munch!

Ever since that lung infection I've had deep fantasies of time slowing down. Specifically of it slowing only for me, so I can catch up on all those able-bodied writers around me!
